Nextengine 3D Scanner

The NextEngine Desktop 3D Scanner is a compact desktop 3D scanner, which scans a physical object with multi-laser. The NextEngine scanner allows the  scanning of complex shapes, organic shapes or hand-carved prototypes and bring the design intent directly into SolidWorks.

Reverse engineering allows shorter product development times by enabling the duplication of an existing part or assembly, by capturing the component's physical dimensions, features, and material properties.. In the intensely competitive global market, manufacturers are constantly seeking new ways to shorten lead-times to market a new product. Rapid product development (RPD) refers to recently developed technologies and techniques that assist manufacturers and designers in meeting the demands of reduced product development time.

The scanner can be used to measure a part in a "as built" condition against it cad model. Typical uses are to check warpage in plastic injection parts or inspect a parts full profile, rather a couple of hits from a CMM. This scanner has been used to design machine tooling that match the forging from the foundry, rather than a drawing that may or may not meet the print. This leads to tooling that meets the design intent and requires less adjustment.
